1 Thessalonians chapter 5, vs 23
… may the God of peace Himself sanctify you entirely … and … may your spirit and soul and body be kept sound and blameless for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ …
… so … as we move forward in this bible study … though we are considering our spirit soul and body somewhat separately … we should remember that from the perspective of God we are a whole single person created by Him spirit soul and body … whoes whole is greater than the sum of its parts … this is all gong on concurrently within our lives for the glory of God … that is our redemption and salvation to everlasting life with God forever through Jesus Christ God our Lord and Savior …
Isaiah chapter 57, vs 15 - 16 God speaking
… vs 15 … for thus says the high and lofty One … Who inhabits eternity … Whose Name is Holy … I dwell in the high and holy place and also with those who are contrite and humble in spirit … to revive the spirit of the humble … and … to revive the heart … that is the soul … of the contrite …
… vs 16 … I will not continually accuse … I will not always be angry … for then … their spirits would grow faint before Me … even the souls that I have made …
… so … in Isaiah chapter 57, vs 15 … the two occasions for the English translation … revive … is Hebrew verb … CHAYAH … Strong# Hebrew 2421 … the best literal meanings include to live or to make live or to make alive … this scripture passage refers to our redemption in Jesus Christ … note that the attribute of our spirit will be humble and the attribute of our soul ( heart ) will be contrite … we have drawn nearer to God … He draws nearer to us and we have salvation in Jesus Christ …
