 Genesis chapter 1, vs 26 - 27 God speaking

… vs 26 … God said … let Us make humankind in Our image according to Our likeness … and … let them have dominion over … the fish of the sea … over the birds of the air … over the cattle … over all the wild animals of the earth …. and … over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth …

… vs 27 … God created humankind … in His image … in the image of God he created them … male and female He created them …

1:26 ויאמר אלהים נעשה אדם בצלמנו כדמותנו וירדו בדגת הים ובעוף השמים ובבהמה ובכל-הארץ ובכל-הרמש הרמש על-הארץ

1:27 ויברא אלהים את-האדם בצלמו בצלם אלהים ברא אתו זכר ונקבה ברא אתם

… in vs 27 … the MAQAF of the ALEF-TAV occasion is to Hebrew noun … ADAM … אדם … Strong# Hebrew 120 … the best literal meanings include … man … or … humankind … however in this occasion our analysis indicates that the reference is to a specific man … Adam … the first person of humankind creation by God … note the prefix HA which adds the emphasis … this specific man … so … this biblical reference in vs 27 is not to God’s creation of the human race but rather to God’s creation of the first human … ADAM … the first man …

… in vs 27 … the English word … male … זכר … is Hebrew adjective or noun … ZAKAR … Strong# Hebrew 2145 … the best literal meanings include … male … or … manchild … the root of ZAKAR is Hebrew verb … ZAKAR … Strong# Hebrew 2142 … the best literal meanings include … to remember … or … to be mindful of … or … to be male … or … to burn incense …

… n vs 27 … the English word … female … is Hebrew noun … NEQEBAH … נקבה  … Strong# Hebrew 5347 … the most often used literal meaning in English translations is … a female … however … our analysis indicates that the use of NEQEBAH is a reference Adam’s spirit while ZAKAR is a reference to his body … the root of NEQEBAH is Hebrew verb … NAQAB … Strong# Hebrew 5344 … the literal meaning is … to puncture or pierce with holes … so … NEQEBAH is a reference to the soul and spirit of Adam as created …
