The Human Mind Naturally Endued with the Knowledge of God
The human mind possesses some sense of a Deity. God has given everyone some apprehension of his existence.
Cicero stated there is no nation so barbarous, no race so savage, as not to be firmly persuaded of the being of a God.
Some sense of the Divinity is inscribed on every heart.
Even if man worships himself or some idol, he still must have a God.
Religion and the recognition of the importance of the divine are natural activities of human beings.
Calvin talks about Caligula, the Roman Emperor, who practiced the most abominable things in his life and his contempt of Deity. In the end, he could not escape God because he dreaded the Deity that he denied.
You can't hide from God. I agree with Calvin. I've NEVER met a happy atheist whose life wasn't a mess. When there is no anchor for your life, you will definitely sink below the turbulent waves of existence.
The worship of God is therefore the only thing which renders men superior to brutes and makes them aspire to immortality.
