I like your analysis of chapter 9 and agree with the quote you pulled: "We must read and study Scripture to receive the Spirit of God" ... the study of scripture goes hand and hand with worship and prayer. I've been spending the last few week in Chapter 14 - it reviews creation, good angels, bad angels and our view of creation in the light of revelation from God. Without scripture we would not have a clear and sure source of God's intended communication to us. As John Calvin points out, in Chapter 14, without the light of revelation, through scripture, those bad angels are very active to change our perceptions of God's will. Something to think about.
