Isaiah chapter 41, vs 6 - 7 God speaking

… the artisan who shapes the idol encourages the goldsmith and says … take courage … so … the one who smooths with the hammer encourages the one who strikes the anvil … after the soldering … they say … it is good … then they fasten it with nails so it will not fall over …

Isaiah chapter 44, vs 9 - 20 God speaking

… all who make or worship idols are nothing and the things they delight in do not profit … they will be put to shame … who in their right mind would fashion a god or cast an image that can do no good … all of its devotees will be put to shame with those who have fashioned or cast an idol … they are merely human … let them all assemble … let them stand up … let them be terrified … and … then they all will be put to shame … for … the blacksmith has fashioned a metal idol … he works it over the coals … shaping it with hammers … forging it with his strong arm … or … a carpenter stretches a line over a piece of wood with a stylus … he fashions it with planes … he marks it with a compass … and … slowly makes it into a human form … with human beauty … to be set up in a shrine … so … a cedar tree was planted and nourished by rain and it grow up strong among the trees of the forest … the carpenter had it cut down … he took a part of the tree for his fire to warm himself and also to bake bread … over this same fire he also roasts meat and eats it and so is satisfied … then … with the rest of the tree the carpenter fashioned an idol … and … then … he bowed down to it … worship it … and … prayed to it … saying … save me for your are my god … so … the blacksmith … the carpenter … and … the devotees of their idols … do not comprehend … their eyes are shut … they cannot see … their minds are shut … so … they cannot understand … they have no knowledge … they have no discernment … they cannot consider that their deluded mind has led them astray … they cannot save themselves … the idol is a fraud … 

Isaiah chapter 45, vs 20 God speaking

… those who carry about wooden idols … have no knowledge … they keep praying to a god that cannot save them …
