2 Kings chapter 4, vs 8 - 37 … vs 8 … one day … Elisha went to Shunem … there a well-to-do woman urged him to stay for a meal … after this … whenever Elisha went to Shunem he would stop there to eat … vs 9 … one day … the woman said to her husband … I know that this man who often comes our way is a holy man of God … vs 10 … let us make a small room on the roof and put in that room a bed  a table a chair and a lamp for him … then he can stay there whenever he comes to visit us … and so this all took place … vs 11 …  one day when Elisha came he went up to his room and lay down … vs 12 … later he said to his servant Gehazi … call the Shunammite woman … so Gehazi called her … she came and stood before Elisha … vs 13 … Elisha said to Gehazi … tell her … you have gone to all this trouble for us … now … what can be done for you … can we speak on your behalf to the king or the commander of the army … she replied … I have a home among my own people … vs 14 … later … Elisha asked … what can be done for her …  and … Gehazi said … she has no son and her husband is old … vs 15 … so …. Elisha said … call her … Gehazi called her and she stood in the doorway … Elisha said … vs 16 … about this time next year you will hold a son in your arms … she objected and said … no my lord please man of God do not mislead your servent … vs 17 … and so … the woman became pregnant and the next year about that same time she gave birth to a son just as Elisha had told her … vs 18 … and so … the child grew and one day he went out to his father who was with the reapers … vs 19 … he said to his father … my head my head! … the father told his servant … carry him to his mother … vs 20 … after the servant had lifted him up and carried him to his mother the boy sat on her lap until noon and then he died … vs 21 … then … she went up and laid him on the bed of the man of God shut the door and went out … vs 22 … the woman called her husband and asked … please send me one of the servants and a donkey so I can go to the man of God quickly and return … vs 23 … her husband asked … why go to him today it’s not the New Moon or the Sabbath … she replied … it is all right please just do this … vs 24 … and so … she saddled the donkey and said to her servant … lead on and do not slow down unless I ask you … vs 25 … and so … the Shunammite woman cam to Mount Carmel where the man of God was staying … Elisha saw the Shumammite woman at a distance and said to his servant Gehazi … look there’s the Shunammite woman … vs 26 … run to meet her and ask her if she is all right  is her husband all right is your child all right … Gehazi reached her and repeated this … she said to Gehazi … everything is all right … vs 27 … when she reached the man of God at Mount Carmel she fell to the ground and took hold of his feet … Gehazi came to push her away however Elisha said … leave her alone for she is in bitter distress and the LORD ( YHVH ) has hidden the reason from me … vs 28 … then she said … my lord did I ask you for a son didn’t I ask you not to raise my hopes … vs 29 … Elisha said to Gehazi … tuck your cloak in your belt then run and take my staff in your hand do not greet anyone you meet and if anyone greets you do not answer when you reach the boy lay my staff on his face … vs 30 … Gehazi left and the Shunammite woman said … as surely as the LORD ( YHVH ) lives and as you live I will not leave you … and so … Elisha rose up and followed her … vs 31 … Gehazi ran ahead of them reached the boy and laid the staff on the boy’s face but there was no response … so … Gehazi went back to meet Elisha and said to him … the boy did not awaken … Elisha reached the home and there was the boy lying dead on his couch … vs 33 …Elisha went in shut  the door and prayed to the LORD ( YHVH ) … vs 34 … then Elisha lay on the boy mouth to mouth eyes to eyes hands to hands … the boy grew warm … vs 35 … then … Elisha turned away and walked back and forth in the room … then he stretched out on the bed over the boy once more … the boy sneezed seven times and opened his eyes … vs 36 … Elisha summoned Gehazi and said … call the Shunammite woman … and he did … when she came Elisha said … take your son … vs 37 … she came in fell at his feet and bowed to the ground … then she took her son and went out …

4:8 ויהי היום ויעבר אלישע אל-שונם ושם אשה גדולה ותחזק-בו לאכל-לחם ויהי מדי עברו יסר שמה לאכל-לחם

4:9 ותאמר אל-אישה הנה-נא ידעתי כי איש אלהים קדוש הוא עבר עלינו תמיד

4:10 נעשה-נא עלית-קיר קטנה ונשים לו שם מטה ושלחן וכסא ומנורה והיה בבאו אלינו יסור שמה

4:11 ויהי היום ויבא שמה ויסר אל-העליה וישכב-שמה

4:12 ויאמר אל-גחזי נערו קרא לשונמית הזאת ויקרא-לה ותעמד לפניו

4:13 ויאמר לו אמר-נא אליה הנה חרדת אלינו את-כל-החרדה הזאת מה לעשות לך היש לדבר-לך אל-המלך או אל-שר הצבא ותאמר בתוך עמי אנכי ישבת

4:14 ויאמר ומה לעשות לה ויאמר גיחזי אבל בן אין-לה ואישה זקן

4:15 ויאמר קרא-לה ויקרא-לה ותעמד בפתח

4:16 ויאמר למועד הזה כעת חיה אתי חבקת בן ותאמר אל-אדני איש האלהים אל-תכזב בשפחתך

4:17 ותהר האשה ותלד בן למועד הזה כעת חיה אשר-דבר אליה אלישע

4:18 ויגדל הילד ויהי היום ויצא אל-אביו אל-הקצרים

4:19 ויאמר אל-אביו ראשי ראשי ויאמר אל-הנער שאהו אל-אמו

4:20 וישאהו ויביאהו אל-אמו וישב על-ברכיה עד-הצהרים וימת

4:21 ותעל ותשכבהו על-מטת איש האלהים ותסגר בעדו ותצא

4:22 ותקרא אל-אישה ותאמר שלחה נא לי אחד מן-הנערים ואחת האתנות וארוצה עד-איש האלהים ואשובה

4:23 ויאמר מדוע אתי הלכתי אליו היום לא-חדש ולא שבת ותאמר שלום

4:24 ותחבש האתון ותאמר אל-נערה נהג ולך אל-תעצר-לי לרכב כי אם-אמרתי לך

4:25 ותלך ותבוא אל-איש האלהים אל-הר הכרמל ויהי כראות איש-האלהים אתה מנגד ויאמר אל-גיחזי נערו הנה השונמית הלז

4:26 עתה רוץ-נא לקראתה ואמר-לה השלום לך השלום לאישך השלום לילד ותאמר שלום

4:27 ותבא אל-איש האלהים אל-ההר ותחזק ברגליו ויגש גיחזי להדפה ויאמר איש האלהים הרפה-לה כי-נפשה מרה-לה ויהוה העלים ממני ולא הגיד לי

4:28 ותאמר השאלתי בן מאת אדני הלא אמרתי לא תשלה אתי

4:29 ויאמר לגיחזי חגר מתניך וקח משענתי בידך ולך כי-תמצא איש לא תברכנו וכי-יברכך איש לא תעננו ושמת משענתי על-פני הנער

4:30 ותאמר אם הנער חי-יהוה וחי-נפשך אם-אעזבך ויקם וילך אחריה

4:31 וגחזי עבר לפניהם וישם את-המשענת על-פני הנער ואין קול ואין קשב וישב לקראתו ויגד-לו לאמר לא הקיץ הנער

4:32 ויבא אלישע הביתה והנה הנער מת משכב על-מטתו

4:33 ויבא ויסגר הדלת בעד שניהם ויתפלל אל-יהוה

4:34 ויעל וישכב על-הילד וישם פיו על-פיו ועיניו על-עיניו וכפיו על-כפו ויגהר עליו ויחם בשר הילד

4:35 וישב וילך בבית אחת הנה ואחת הנה ויעל ויגהר עליו ויזורר הנער עד-שבע פעמים ויפקח הנער את-עיניו

4:36 ויקרא אל-גיחזי ויאמר קרא אל-השנמית הזאת ויקראה ותבוא אליו ויאמר שאי בנך

4:37 ותבא ותפל על-רגליו ותשתחו ארצה ותשא את-בנה ותצא
